Yes Ma'am! Sorry it took me so long to follow up! That is Jubilee Hall! Are you a Fiskite (I'm class of 93)? If you are check out this site (if not, send to your friends and loved one who are!!!)... There are tons of us on this virtual yard! It's great catching up and everyone is on their best behavior! :)

Thank you for the book suggestion. I'll have to check it out. So far, I've gone to a Mocha Moms group and plan on joining the new chapter they're setting up in my area, and I've connected with a biracial mom of an adopted black boy. We're in a moms group at church, but it's largely white, and of the minority babies, he one of the only black ones.
We plan on sending him to a private/parochial school in our town (where I used to teach), but its lack of diversity is a concern. That's why I'm trying to integrate us as much as possible in other areas. I want him to be around people who look like him, and it's good for me to experience being a minority in a group.
I'm so glad to hear someone say that raising boys isn't easy. Honestly, I'm quite sick of hearing the opposite. All you have to do is turn on the tv and watch the news or any tv show to see how men (all men but esp. black men) are portrayed and know that you have a lot to fight against.
How old is your son? Do you have any other suggestions for me or things that I should be aware of?
Thanks so much for your advice already. I appreciate it!
Rebekah
